Dr. Shani Roshelle, Ph.D.
Parent Coach
Dr. Shani Roshelle is an Assistant Professor in the Clinical Psychology Department at William James College, where she also serves as the Director of the PATHWAYS Program and leads the African & Caribbean Mental Health Concentration. She holds a Ph.D. in Clinical-Community Psychology from Wichita State University and completed her pre-doctoral internship at Community Healthlink Youth and Family Services in Worcester, MA, where she received specialized training in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT). In 2011, Dr. Roshelle completed her post-doctoral fellowship in Adolescent Medicine at Boston Children’s Hospital through the Leadership Training in Adolescent Health (LEAH) Program and held a Clinical Fellow appointment at Harvard Medical School’s Department of Psychiatry.
Following her fellowship, Dr. Roshelle worked at South End Community Health Center, providing individual, group, and school-based therapy in the Behavioral Health Department. From 2017 to August 2020, she served as Assistant Professor of Psychology and Director of Clinical Training at Stonehill College.
Currently, Dr. Roshelle is also the Associate Director of a HRSA-funded Behavioral Health Workforce Education and Training (BHWET) Program for Professionals at William James College, which aims to enhance experiential training for students in behavioral health fields.
In November 2022, Dr. Roshelle founded Strength In Families, a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering parents by offering resources and support to strengthen their relationships with their children. Her research focuses on parenting practices within African and Caribbean communities and the effectiveness of parent coaching. She has published extensively and presented her work at numerous local and national conferences.
