Piraveenaa Vijayakumar is a second-year doctoral student in the Clinical Psychology Psy.D. program at William James College. Her clinical interests include child/adolescent mental health, neuropsychological assessment, trauma-informed counseling, and community-based mental health. She is particularly interested in Asian mental health, global mental health, and working with minoritized, immigrant, and refugee communities.
Piraveenaa likes to approach clinical work with empathy, curiosity, compassion, and cultural humility. She values meeting clients where they are and believes that understanding each person through their culture, values, and experiences specific to them, is essential to providing the best care. She hopes to continue working in community-based settings that increase access to mental health services for underserved and culturally diverse populations.
