Therapy
Starting therapy can be a significant and positive step towards improving your mental health and overall well-being. Here’s what you can expect when beginning therapy at our practice:
Initial Consultation
Your first appointment is an initial consultation where you’ll meet your therapist to discuss your reasons for seeking therapy. This is an opportunity to share concerns, ask questions, and set therapy goals. Your therapist will gather background information, including medical history, family dynamics, and prior therapy experiences.
Confidential and Supportive Environment
We provide a confidential and supportive setting for discussing personal issues. All session details are kept strictly confidential, except where disclosure is legally required, such as in cases of harm.
Collaborative Treatment Planning
Therapy is collaborative. After the initial consultation, your therapist will help develop a personalized treatment plan that meets your unique needs and preferences, incorporating various therapeutic approaches.
Regular Therapy Sessions
Regular sessions, typically weekly or bi-weekly, last 45 to 60 minutes. Consistency is key to progress and achieving your therapy goals. Your therapist will periodically check in to assess your progress and adjust the treatment plan as necessary. You are encouraged to provide feedback to ensure the therapy remains effective. Between sessions, your therapist may suggest activities to reinforce skills and insights gained during therapy. Feel free to discuss any concerns or questions at any time.
